Every player starts RO game as a Novice. Armed only with a knife and wearing cotton shirt, Novices wend their way to amazing world of Rune-Midgard.

                        

At the start, Novices have no special skills. They build their characters through quests and adventures. One of first trials for Novices in the game is fight with monsters. It could be very hard to Novice to face a monster with only a knife in the hand.
In such situations, Novice could use special skill named Play Dead. It’s about pretending that you are dead which will drove the monster away. This skill cannot be used after changing jobs.

Second special skill that Novices possess is First Aid skill, which allows restoration of health. This skill is available at Novice level 5.

When reached basic level 9, Novices are able to change their jobs.
